China's top potter Ding Junhui is going to meet Englishman Mark King in the first round at the Snooker World Championship to be held from July 31 to August 16 in Sheffield.

The draw for the final stages of this year's World Championship was made on Wednesday. The top 16 seeds were randomly drawn against the 16 players coming through the qualifying rounds, which finished on Tuesday night.

Ding, the world No. 11, will play against world No. 46 King in the opening round. If the 33-year-old Chinese ace can win his opening match at the Crucible Theatre, he will probably meet five-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, who needs to get past Thai player Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

20-year-old Yan Bingtao was drawn to face qualifier Elliot Slessor, while the other Chinese player Liang Wenbo is scheduled to play against Australian Neil Robertson.

The 33-year-old Liang won a marathon battle on Monday to qualify for the final stages. He last played at the Crucible in 2017, and his best result at the World Championship was a quarterfinal finish in 2008.

Reigning world champion and world number one Judd Trump will meet Tom Ford in the first round, while three-time world champion Mark Selby's first opponent is Jordan Brown.
